David Morehen
Joined Rotary in New Malden, Surrey, (District 1140) England in 1973 under the classification Police Service when Chief Inspector in charge of that area of S.W. London. Was their Golden Jubilee President 1978-79. On retirement from the police service I joined Rotary as a paid employee at their HQ for Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland at Sheen in S.W. London, but after a very short period the HQ moved to Alcester, Warwickshire, as the result of a decision of their annual conference.
At Alcester I transferred my membership to the Rotary Club of Henley-in-Arden (District 1060) and was re-classified as Associations – RIBI becoming their President in 1993-94. I was editor of the club bulletin Hooray Henley for 13 years. In my position as Assistant Secretary of RIBI, I was responsible for organising major meetings such as the Assembly and the Annual Conference. It was fortunate that I was already a competent shorthand-typist and using computers came as a natural next step, so I joined ICUFR under the leadership of Roger Siddle for some guidance and education.
Retired from full-time Rotary employment in 1997 to Devon where I joined the Rotary Club of Dartmouth (District 1170) becoming their President 2009-10, under my original classification of Police Service. Have been editor of their club bulletin for about six years, using Microsoft Publisher. Was Assistant D.G. 2012-13.
